John Rakow is Senior Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs at Space Systems/Loral (SS/L). Joining the company in January 2009, Mr. Rakow leads the Legal and Compliance organization, including Export Control, and participates as a member of the company’s Senior Executive Committee, bringing a legal perspective to the development and execution of all aspects of SS/L's operations.

Before joining SS/L, Mr. Rakow served as the senior vice president and General Counsel of Asurion Corporation, the leading provider of specialty insurance and technology protection services for the wireless telecommunications industry, with over 10,000 employees worldwide.

In addition to extensive global in-house counsel roles, Mr. Rakow has over 25 years of legal, business, and management experience, having held legal positions in companies, city and federal government, and private practice.

Mr. Rakow is a 1982 graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law.
