four direct-broadcast
service, Digital Audio Radio Satellites (DARS) were built for
Sirius Satellite Radio (formerly CD Radio Inc.) for delivery of a
new satellite-to-car, CD-quality, radio broadcast system across the
continental United States. Three of these digital audio radio satellites
now provide DARS commercial-free programs to vehicles equipped with
Sirius's revolutionary new small antennas. The first three satellites
were launched in 2000; the fourth serves as a backup. |
